Peanut Power Plus Smoothie
On my journey to find quick and healthy recipes postpartum, I am in my smoothie era. I love smoothies because they are simple, healthy, and most importantly quick especially when I have very limited time in the mornings. My favorite smoothie used to be the peanut power plus from Smoothie King. Obviously, it is not affordable or healthy to keep getting a smoothie every single day so I had to come up with something at home and let me tell you, it’s delicious!
Ingredients You Will Need
Serving Size: 2 large cups
- 2 bananas
- ½ cup melted peanut butter
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 2 Fairlife Protein Shakes (chocolate preferred) or 2-4 scoops of your favorite protein powder
- 1 teaspoon unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 2-4 dates based on your sweetness preference (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- 2 tablespoons flax seeds
- 2 tablespoons hemp seeds
- 1 Handful of almonds, walnuts, or any other nut for crunch
How to Make the Smoothie
Step 1: Prepare the blender
Be sure your blender is clean and the blade is in properly before starting.
Step 2: Add the base
Add bananas, peanut butter, greek yogurt, protein shakes, cocoa powder, dates, chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds, and nuts. Blend mixture for 2-3 minutes or until smooth/desired consistency,
Step 3: Add Ice
I always add ice at the end to get it a bit thicker
Step 4: Serve and Enjoy!
This is a simple recipe that is easy to replicate at home and easy to make additions to. For instance, if you want some added benefits, I recommend adding in a bunch of spinach at the end. The smoothie will be a different color but it will not change the taste at all!
Ingredient Substitution
Greek Yogurt: You can add in any type of plain yogurt you like even add in vegan yogurt as well.
Fairlife Protein Shake: Feel free to add in any protein powder and soy/whole milk in place of the shake
This has been the easiest breakfast I have had most days after giving birth to my baby. I feel full and add in a lot of nuts and seeds that I would otherwise not eat at all. I feel like this shake gives me an extra boost of protein that I need in the mornings to stay full longer.
