Do you ever remember the days of college where you just rolled out of bed and ran to class?
Trust me that is exactly what I used to do. However, now my favorite part of the day is my morning routine. For me, my morning routine starts off my day and sets the tone for the rest of the day. I wanted to share my morning routine and want to hear what you all do as well!
First thing, no matter if it is a weekday or a weekend, I always stick to a consistent wake up time. Just remember that I am a morning person so my mornings usually start at 6:00am. I believe that with differing waking times interferes with a person’s circadian rhythm.
Once I wake up, I am sure to always have water at my bed side table and I drink a glass of water as soon as I wake up. This helps me feel rehydrated, boosts my metabolism, and personally, I have seen that my skin is more glowing. Of course, I brush my teeth after and then head down to make breakfast.
I used to skip my breakfast for years thinking I would be able to lose weight but I noticed that eating a healthy breakfast with some protein actually helps start my metabolism and in turn has helped me stay satiated and make better food choices throughout the day.
I love journaling as you know from many of my previous posts. I usually have my monthly and weekly scheduled planned out including meals in my Hobonoichi Cousin. In the mornings, I make sure to take a few moments to plan out what I need to accomplish for the day to help me stay on track. I also review my schedule before heading out to make sure that I have everything I need for the day.
The way I make sure I am completely awake is to spend 30 minutes getting some exercise. 3 times a week I choose to walk on my treadmill and the other 4 days I rotate between yoga, HIIT workout, weights, and dance.
Something I have been doing since I was a child was starting my day with something positive. For me that can be something very simple: lighting a candle while writing out my schedule, listen to my favorite song, and always taking 2-3 minutes to pray and speak some positive affirmations.
And that’s it! I try to keep it simple because the more complicated I make it, I know it will just stress me out even more if I do not get to one of the items. The most important thing would be to find a routine that works for you, and stay consistent. As I said, this post is for you to find some inspiration to create your own morning routine. I would focus on one thing and build your own routine based on that.
